Flowering Time
For the best results, plant your Hyacinth Jan Bos bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November. Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Dig a hole around 10cm deep and place the bulb inside, pointy end facing upwards. Cover it with soil and water it gently.
Hyacinths are generally quite cold-resistant, but you can protect them from harsh winters with a layer of mulch around the base of the plant. Once spring arrives and the threat of frost has passed, you can expect to be rewarded with stunning blooms for around 4 weeks, typically in March and April. After flowering, remove the flower stalk but leave the leaves to die back naturally. This will allow the bulb to store energy for next year's display.
